Daniel Ruan
Research Assistant
Daniel Ruan is a research assistant at ADR Laboratory. He is currently a Ph.D. in Architecture student at Princeton University’s School of Architecture. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with his B.Arch and MS Architectural Science degrees, followed by the MS Digital Materials and Technologies program at the University of Michigan. Daniel has experience in a wide range of digital and fabrication technologies, including Grasshopper plugin development, emergy analysis, CFD simulations, tool development, and more. His interests include the interface between humans and digital processes, in how the collaborative efforts of both can heighten the design process of architecture in research, teaching, and practice. His research is focused on the real-time robotic prefabrication of timber assemblies, adapting leading-edge robotic technologies for use in architecture and construction.
